Gen AI Policies

Generative AI Policies

Origo Medica Journal recognizes the increasing use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools in academic writing and research support. To maintain scientific integrity, transparency, and ethical publication standards, the journal establishes the following policies regarding the use of AI-assisted technologies in manuscript preparation, peer review, and editorial processes.

1. Use of Generative AI by Authors

Authors may use Generative AI tools solely for limited support purposes such as:

  • Language improvement and grammar correction
  • Formatting assistance
  • Improving readability and clarity
  • Supporting literature organization

Authors remain fully responsible for all submitted content, including any material generated or assisted by AI tools.

Authors must ensure that:

  • All factual claims are verified independently
  • References generated by AI are accurate and authentic
  • No fabricated, misleading, or unverifiable information is included
  • Confidential or sensitive data are not uploaded to public AI platforms

2. Mandatory Disclosure

If Generative AI tools were used during manuscript preparation, authors must disclose this use in the manuscript under a dedicated section titled "AI Usage Disclosure" before the References section.

Example:

This manuscript utilized [Tool Name] for language editing and readability enhancement. The authors reviewed and validated all outputs and take full responsibility for the final content.

3. AI Cannot Be Listed as an Author

Generative AI tools do not meet authorship criteria and must not be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship is limited to individuals who meet established academic contribution standards.

4. Prohibited Uses

The following uses of AI are strictly prohibited:

  • Generating scientific findings, data, or results without validation
  • Fabricating references, citations, tables, or figures
  • Creating misleading interpretations of research outcomes
  • Replacing critical scholarly analysis or scientific reasoning

5. Use of AI by Reviewers

Peer reviewers must not upload submitted manuscripts, in whole or in part, to public or third-party AI systems, as this may violate confidentiality and intellectual property protections.

Reviewers may only use secure, institutionally approved tools that fully preserve confidentiality.

6. Use of AI by Editors

Editors may use AI-assisted tools for administrative support such as language checks or workflow assistance. Editorial decisions will always remain under full human responsibility.

7. Editorial Assessment

Origo Medica Journal reserves the right to request clarification regarding AI use at any stage of submission, review, or publication.

Failure to disclose AI usage appropriately may result in:

  • Manuscript revision requests
  • Rejection of submission
  • Retraction after publication if serious violations are identified
